Add Sun of Suns to your reading list for the complex world-building alone....

Sometimes a book doesn't live up to the hype. Peter Brett's The Warded Man was one of those for me as a great premise fizzles out and is ultimately wasted....

Tolkien meets Harry Potter in the first of this three book series. Reiffen's Choice harkens back to the traditional fantasy tales of old. Fun and entertaining, it's a good read, albeit not entirely original....

Alternate history with time travel? Sounds intriguing, but there wasn't enough of the things I always look for: rich worldbuilding, deep characters, and an interesting storyline. Not a bad book, but not one that's going to rise to the top, either....

Shadow's Son is akin to a blockbuster summer movie that almost works. It's good entertainment, but won't leave you hungry for more....
