Tor.com hacked

tor-books-logo Thought I would pass this on since I've made numerous mentions of Tor Books in previous posts: the Tor.com site was hacked.

This from Patrick Nielson Hayden:

The break-in was most likely accomplished by means of a vulnerability in Joomla, our content-management system, which was first discussed in public on Tuesday and patched on the same day; in other words, the intruder took advantage of a very brief window of opportunity.

Regarding passwords and other personal information:

We have no particular reason to think they made off with passwords or other personal information, but it's not impossible.

Not exactly a vote of confidence. I changed my password just to be on the safe side even though there isn't much on their site in the way of 'personal' info.

Just passing on the warning.
