Chane Taldman
Chane Taldman was born into a well-respected family of merchants in Brighton. His parents owned a prosperous trade business dealing in fine textiles and luxury goods. From a young age, Chane was exposed to the world of commerce, learning the intricacies of trade, negotiation, and interpersonal relationships. His family ensured he received a formal education, where he excelled in the arts, philosophy, and law.
For a time, Chane practiced law, representing various merchants and tradesmen in Brighton. However, while he was skilled at legal work, his true talent lay in reading people and brokering deals. His reputation as a fair and honorable negotiator grew, and many sought his counsel. Chane’s natural charm and deep sense of fairness made him a trusted figure in Brighton’s business circles.
During this period, he came into contact with Arlen Walkerton, who recognized Chane’s abilities and hired him as the family steward. Chane’s role expanded beyond business, managing the Walkerton family’s affairs and often mediating in delicate situations. He developed a strong bond with the family, particularly Serena, Arlen’s daughter, whom he watched grow from a curious child into a talented, if troubled, young woman.
Chane’s loyalty to the Walkertons has never wavered, even as Serena’s departure from Brighton weighed heavily on him. He had been like a second father to her, filling in when Arlen and Verna were too occupied with their own ambitions. Chane continues to manage the family’s business affairs, always with the same integrity and care he has demonstrated his entire life. Despite the challenges the Walkertons face, Chane remains a steady and reliable presence in their household and Brighton’s business community.
