Corrin

Corrin is a plain-looking lad marked by a cruel disposition and a club foot that gives him a pronounced limp and a peculiar gait that often draws the ridicule of others. As a result, Corrin has developed a tough, abrasive exterior as a defense mechanism against the constant mockery while earning a reputation as a bully, lashing out at those who mock him to mask his insecurities and pain. Despite this, Corrin harbors a secret desire for acceptance.

Corrin was born to a poor family in Woodfell, a woodland village north of his present home of Norwynne Keep. His mother died when he was young, and his father, a blacksmith, grew cold and indifferent after that. With few friends and little familial support, Corrin’s childhood was lonely and filled with hardship.

Growing up, Corrin’s club foot made it difficult for him to participate in many of the activities the other children enjoyed, and his lack of agility made him an easy target. In response, Corrin learned to use his fists to defend himself, quickly gaining a reputation as someone not to be crossed. This reputation, while isolating, also brought him a twisted sense of power and control that he relishes.

Corrin was given a fresh start when his father, looking for greater rewards from his smithing, moved them to Norwynne Keep. Corrin found it challenging to make friends and soon reverted to his role as a bully. His behavior has had its rewards since, as the strongest boy, he soon became leader of the Jackals, a gang of rabble-rousers whose most significant achievement is picking on those weaker.

Despite his physical limitations, Corrin has become quite strong from helping his father in the forge. He is adept at using his environment to his advantage in fights, often employing dirty tactics to compensate for his lack of speed and mobility. His knowledge of metalwork and crafting is quite advanced for his age, though he rarely receives recognition.

FIRST APPEARANCE

Corrin first appears in Engines of Alchemancy (The Alchemancer Book One).
