Gwendolyn Morgan is smart, beautiful, and ambitious. As a founding member and chief scientist of the Society for the Progression of Science and Technology, she holds a position of significant influence, helping to set direction for the burgeoning technological growth of Kallendor. As a member of the esteemed Morgan family, she walks in rarefied social circles. Rumor says she may even have a line—albeit a convoluted one—to those closest to the king. Gwendolyn has the world at her fingertips, but, for her, it is not enough.
Born into a modestly wealthy family in Alchester, the capital city of Kallendor, Gwendolyn showed promise as an intellectual early on. As such, she attended the best prep schools the city offered. While amidst her more advanced studies, she was introduced to Reynold Morgan, an astute businessman already administering much of his family’s enterprises despite his relatively young age. This introduction was facilitated by their respective families, who soon engaged in marital negotiations. The arrangement was soon finalized, but only upon Gwendolyn’s final approval. Ever ambitious, Gwendolyn saw the arrangement as a way to widen her influence amongst the gentry while gaining additional resources to fund her scientific endeavors. Early on, she conceived of the notion of a society dedicated to advancing technology, an idea that her prospective husband bought into after some convincing. Of course, this vision included her at the society’s head.
Despite all Gwendolyn has, it isn’t enough. She wants more fame, more glory, more recognition. Money, she cares little about other than as a means to an end, so it is never the driving force for her. Instead, she has a burning desire to make her mark in society and to prove herself amongst the more austere of her scientific colleagues. Power has too many administrative duties that go along with it. She wants recognition and respect. The lengths she will go to achieve her goals remain unproven. So far, she has not encountered a line she will not cross or an act she is unwilling to perform.
The captain had been right. Gwendolyn Morgan was a looker. Golden blonde hair, a slender figure, and smoldering blue eyes that must have raised the temperature of every man in the society at one time or another just to look at them. Her choice of attire did nothing to dampen such heat. While fashionably conservative in style, the shimmering crimson of her dress turned heads with its sheer color alone. I found it a peculiar choice since red was not the norm for a grieving widow.
- THE ASSASSIN’S BLADE / THE GODDARD AFFAIR
As a scientist and inventor, she has designed and built many devices and machines, some of which have contributed to Alchester’s up-and-coming airship industry. Other devices she keeps in the shadows, such as her negative energy grenades, until a more suitable time and place presents itself. Although others within the society do not condone using their resources to develop devices for Kallendor’s military, Gwendolyn has no such reservations.
Gwendolyn has few equals from an intellectual standpoint. Far fewer are as clever or as cunning.
FIRST APPEARANCE
