Eager to capitalize on the city’s vibrant marketplace and clandestine dealings, he wormed his way into the employ of Darius Vilhelm, an influential businessman with deep ties to the criminal underworld. Recognizing the potential for profit in allying with Darius, Kaileesh feigned loyalty while secretly plotting his ascent within this new domain. As he ingratiated himself with Vilhelm’s operations, he gained insights into the workings of high-stakes trade, using his cunning to maneuver among the elite and surreptitiously extend his influence.
“Gentlemen,” Kaileesh said, his words laced with silk, “your payment awaits you. You need only take it from this man’s corpse.” On cue, four thugs slunk into the halo of light created by the alchemical streetlamp shining overhead. Kaileesh’s smirk widened into a full smile as he took a few more steps back. “A pleasure doing business with you.” Then he turned and disappeared into the darkness.
