Qess Lendin hails from Brokken-tor in the Ugull Mountains, a renowned dwarven hall known for its exceptional craftsmanship and engineering prowess. From a young age, she and her brother, Raed, were captivated by the intricate machinery and innovative designs surrounding them. Growing up in a culture that valued hard work and ingenuity, Qess dedicated herself to mastering the art of engineering, honing her skills in mechanics and combat engineering under the watchful eyes of seasoned dwarven craftsmen.
When the duo decided to leave the confines of Brokken-tor, they were fueled by a desire for new opportunities and adventures in the bustling city of Alchester, which was undergoing a renaissance in technology development. Upon their arrival, Qess quickly recognized the vast potential for innovation and progress within the vibrant community. However, the transition was not without its challenges, as the siblings faced the daunting task of establishing themselves in a new environment amidst the unfamiliar cityscape.
However, their determination and unique skill set did not go unnoticed. When Atticus Drake, a prominent figure associated with the Society for the Progression of Science and Technology, approached them with an offer to join the esteemed organization, they were thrilled by the opportunity to work alongside some of the brightest minds in the city. Qess and Raed eagerly accepted, immersing themselves in a world that encouraged creativity and collaboration. Within the Society, Qess found her niche in combat engineering, where her innovative spirit and dedication could flourish.
“Impressive,” I said. “If I may ask, what is the armor’s construction?”
Atticus held off explaining as he gestured with his chin at the armored dwarf, who removed his helmet to reveal that he was not a man at all, but a woman. She had ruddy cheeks, a large nose, and dark hair that spilled past her shoulders now that it was free from the helmet. Upon seeing Atticus, the woman strode over with her helmet wedged under an arm. Meanwhile, the other dwarf went about stowing his crossbow.
“A success by any measure, Mr. Drake,” the woman said. She acknowledged Captain Belford’s presence with a nod.
