Vuller Ashcroft
Vuller Ashcroft grew up in the harsh environment of Norwynne Keep, which had been his family’s seat for generations. As the youngest son of three, he was never meant to inherit the title of Baron of Fallmere. His early years were spent training to be a soldier, honing his skills in tactics and combat under the guidance of seasoned warriors who had defended the Keep for decades. Vuller quickly distinguished himself as a disciplined and pragmatic fighter, earning the respect of his superiors and his fellow soldiers.
However, tragedy struck when both of his elder brothers were killed in battle during a border skirmish with a rival noble family. Suddenly thrust into the role of heir, Vuller had to abandon his military ambitions to assume the responsibilities of lordship. His strict upbringing and rigorous training helped him navigate the political complexities of his new role, though it also hardened him further, making him a man of few words and fewer smiles.
During the Goblin Wars, Vuller’s experience as a soldier proved invaluable. He led his forces with an iron hand, ensuring that Norwynne Keep remained one of the last bastions of defense against the goblin hordes. His decisive actions earned him a reputation as a fearsome and uncompromising leader. The war also left a mark on him—he became more reserved and distant, even with his family. The loss of his wife to illness during the war years only deepened his resolve to focus on duty above all else.
After the war, Vuller returned to Norwynne Keep, where he continued to rule with a stern hand. Though he loves his daughter, Cordelia, his affection is often masked by his unyielding demeanor. He sees her as the future of his house and subjects her to the same rigorous discipline he was raised with, hoping to prepare her for the harsh realities of their world. Norwynne Keep, perched on the cliffs overlooking the cold and treacherous Barrens Ocean, mirrors Vuller’s own nature—solitary, unyielding, and formidable.
