After much thought, I am pushing the release date of The Assassin's Code to February 4, 2025. This change has already been made at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Apple Books, and my direct store, Books by Scott Marlowe. You'll see the new release date replace the old one in marketing images and such moving forward.
So, why make this change?
First off, it wasn't an easy decision, but it really comes down to delivering the best possible book to readers. As the original release date of October 22 got closer and closer, I realized delivering on that date would require me to make some severe compromises, and that's something I won't do. Retiring from my day job two years ago gave me something I didn't have the first 12 years I was operating as an independent author: time. I'm currently 56,000 words into The Assassin's Code, and the story gets more nuanced and complicated with every scene, so having the time to do this right is critical.
What happens to my pre-order?
If you pre-ordered from anyone other than Amazon, then nothing. Your pre-order remains intact, and you'll get The Assassin's Code on the new release date. However, if you pre-ordered through Amazon, your pre-order has been canceled. Such is the way Amazon works. You can either re-pre-order the book or wait for the release date.
Thanks for your understanding on this. I'll provide regular updates here, on social media, and via my newsletter moving forward.
