Thjorn Targalas hails from the rugged fiefdom of Anolga, where he was born into a clan of fierce hillmen known for their warrior spirit and survival skills. From a young age, he was trained as a warrior, mastering the art of combat through rigorous training and participation in raids against rival clans and settlements. Thjorn thrived in the chaotic life of a barbarian, finding pride in his strength and prowess in battle. However, as the years passed, disillusionment began to settle within him. Tired of the ceaseless cycle of violence and conflict, he yearned for something greater—wealth, adventure, and a life beyond the brutality of warfare.
Driven by this desire for change, Thjorn left his homeland and embarked on a journey across the Four Fiefdoms. He quickly adapted to the various cultures and landscapes he encountered, utilizing his skills as a warrior and a raider to carve out a new existence for himself. His travels eventually led him to the bustling city of Alchester, a place teeming with opportunity and intrigue. Here, Thjorn found work as an enforcer for a local crime syndicate, leveraging his imposing stature and combat abilities to command respect and fear among those who crossed his path.
As Thjorn toiled in the shadows of Alchester, he discovered a new ambition blossoming within him. The underworld offered a different kind of power. One not merely rooted in brute strength but in cunning, manipulation, and leadership. When the chance to take control of the thieves' guild presented itself, he seized the opportunity without hesitation. Thjorn's fierce determination and combat skills quickly won him support, allowing him to ascend to the role of guild leader.
“Sorry, Liz, but this one’s not paid in full. The goods aren’t mine to give up.”
“Is that what you want me to tell Thjorn?”
Thjorn ‘Heavyhammer’ Targalas. He’s the leader of Alchester’s Guild of Thievery and Backstabbing. To say he’s big is an understatement. He’s an Anolgan hillman, and from what I’ve seen, bigger than big is the only way those barbarians come. Needless to say, he’s the sort most sane people never want to find themselves up against, myself included. Still, a deal’s a deal, and I intended to honor mine, regardless of the unforeseen consequences.
- THE ASSASSIN’S BLADE
Under Thjorn's command, the thieves' guild grew stronger and more organized. Unsatisfied with mere thievery, he had grand visions of consolidating power and expanding his influence across Alchester. This ambition drove him into conflict with the beggars' guild, leading to a violent clash that would change the landscape of the city's criminal underbelly. Through shrewd tactics and overwhelming force, Thjorn emerged victorious, absorbing the remaining members of the beggars' guild into his organization. Thus, he became the unrivaled overlord of all thieving activities in Alchester, ruling with an iron fist and demanding absolute loyalty from his followers.
Thjorn's ascent did not go unnoticed by the powers that be. Rumors swirled that he had forged a special arrangement with King Classus that allowed him to operate without interference from the King's Ministry of Justice. This unspoken understanding granted Thjorn a certain level of protection, creating a symbiotic relationship where both parties benefited, albeit from the shadows.
As his renown grew, Thjorn earned the nickname "Heavyhammer," a nod to the massive war hammer he wielded in battle. The weapon became synonymous with his brutal reputation, a symbol of his unyielding strength and his willingness to crush anyone who dared oppose him. Despite his fearsome exterior, however, Thjorn harbored ambitions that reached beyond mere wealth and power. Beneath the surface, he sought to establish a legacy that would secure his place in the annals of Alchester's history long after he had left the mortal realm.
