At eighteen, she left her hometown and traveled to Alzion Hall, where she immediately set her sights on becoming a patroller. Now a Scout First Class, Rhuda takes immense pride in her accomplishments and the responsibilities that come with her role. Her skill with an axe is unmatched. As she patrols the frontier, she utilizes her woodcraft knowledge to track movements and gather vital information about those who would do the Four Fiefdoms harm. Working closely with her fellow patroller, Evan Kingsley, Rhuda has forged a strong bond grounded in mutual respect and a shared commitment to protecting the realm.

Rhuda is a beefy woman, built solidly through the shoulders and arms like someone who has swung an axe since childhood and never stopped. She keeps her hair cropped short—practical for the field and one less thing to think about—and her smile is wide and easily given, the first thing most people notice about her and the thing they remember afterward.

She dresses as the work demands, in the leathers and layered wools of a patroller who expects to sleep outdoors more often than under a roof. Her axe is never far from her hand. It is a working tool as much as a weapon, well-worn from years of use, and she carries it with the unstudied ease of someone who no longer notices its weight.

Rhuda’s woodcraft is second to none. She reads signs, follows trails across country that offer no help to a tracker, and gathers intelligence on movement through the frontier that other scouts would miss entirely. She greets people with a grin and a jab, ribbing friends about whatever trouble they have gotten themselves into this time, and the teasing lands as affection because that is plainly how it is meant. Among patrollers who spend most of their lives alone, she makes a camp feel like a camp.

Underneath the good humor is a steadiness that does not waver when things turn serious. She takes real pride in her rank and in having earned it, and that pride expresses itself as reliability rather than swagger—she is where she said she would be, doing what she said she would do.
