Holly

Holly was born in the bustling city of Scilya in Kallendor, but her parents abandoned her when she was seven years old. She was taken in by an orphanage run by a stern but caring woman named Gracilla, who became the closest thing to a mother Holly ever knew. Growing up in the rougher sections of Scilya, Holly learned to be street-smart early, following Gracilla's warnings to "mind yourself, stop for no one you don't already know, and be home before dark."
At age eight, Holly made a vow to herself that she would never be truly alone again after the pain of her abandonment. This drive for connection and belonging would shape much of her life. During her time at the orphanage, Holly discovered her natural talent for music and storytelling, often entertaining the other children with songs and tales.
When Holly was in her early teens, she caught the attention of Brayton, a traveling bard master who was performing in Scilya. Recognizing her potential, he took her on as his apprentice. Under Brayton's tutelage, Holly spent several years traveling well-patrolled roads throughout the kingdom, learning the arts of music, storytelling, and the formal duties of a herald. Brayton gifted her a mandolin that became her most treasured possession.
Holly's path crossed with Kayra Weslin when she performed at the House of Weslin. Kayra's father was delighted with her performances, and Holly and Kayra became fast friends despite their different social standings. When Kayra needed a herald to chronicle her heroic deeds for her trials to become a full knight, she chose Holly for this honor. Though grateful for the opportunity, Holly often doubts whether she was the right choice, feeling more suited to civilized roads than dangerous wilderness adventures. Despite her fears and lack of combat skills, Holly's loyalty to Kayra and her desire to prove herself worthy of the trust placed in her drive her forward into whatever perils await.
