One question I get asked: Where do I start with the Assassin Without a Name series?
The short answer: The Assassin's Blade. That's Book One, and it's designed to be your entry point into the series. From there, follow the numbered books straight through to The Assassin's Trial.
But if you want the deeper cut, start with the prequels. The Assassin's Ruse precedes The Assassin's Dilemma. Both take place before the main series (that's why they're prequels) and give you a richer understanding of who the Assassin is and how he got here before the events of The Assassin's Blade unfold.
The full lineup:
- The Assassin's Ruse — Prequel
- The Assassin's Dilemma — Prequel
- The Assassin's Blade — Book One
- The Assassin's Cunning — Book Two
- The Assassin's Code — Book Three
- The Assassin's Skill — Book Four
- The Assassin's Trial — Book Five
Either way you start, you're in for gas-lit streets, deadly contracts, and a protagonist who's far more complicated than "assassin" suggests.
